| Cape Town Travel |
| Cape Town is a vibrant city offering shops, colourful markets, restaurants, bars and nightclubs, many of which are located in and around the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. Very few cities can boast such an amazing backdrop as Table Mountain, which gives the city a distinctive skyline. Take a cable-car journey to the top, or if you are a little more adventurous, hike one of the many trails to its summit. Cape Town has many attractions to offer the visitor. Kirstenbosh Botanical Gardens are beautiful, as is the nearby Constantia Valley with its tree-lined lanes and Cape Dutch properties. Take a fascinating guided tour into one of the local townships, or perhaps take the ferry across to Robben Island for a tour of this infamous prison. Beaches surround the city, with plenty of beautiful coves and secluded bays for you to discover. Allow a full day to explore Cape Point and ensure that you make a stop at Boulders Beach, home to hundreds of penguins. |

Capetonians are fiercely proud of their city to such an extent that the rest of South Africa regard them as rather snooty. The people of the Mother City might lean towards overconfidence but they are never less than generous and welcoming. |
|
| Visas |
Countries not requiring visas are USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, EU, Singapore, Japan, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. |
|
| Language |
Eleven official languages with English the most widely spoken. |
|
| Safety |
Crime-levels in the new South Africa have been too well-documented for visitors to be completely blasé about their safety. While Capetonians have begrudgingly accepted high crime levels as part of everyday life, for the time being tourists still very rarely encounter problems. To be sensible is to be safe in the Cape. Whenever you can, walk around in a group, don"t try and negotiate the city in the early hours and, above all, be confident when travelling. Do proper research and you should never look lost enough to be a target. |
